Privacy Policy — FocusBell

What this extension does

FocusBell is a Pomodoro-style focus timer in your browser. It runs work and break sessions, shows a toolbar badge and optional desktop notifications when a session or break ends, and keeps session history, daily counts, and streaks. Everything runs locally; the extension does not send your data to any external servers.

Data we collect

We do not collect personal data (no name, email, or account). The extension does not use analytics, tracking, or third-party APIs. It does not connect to the internet to send or receive your information.

What is stored locally

All data is stored only in your browser using Chrome's local storage on this device. Nothing is synced to the cloud or sent to us. We store:

  • Timer state: Whether the timer is running, current mode (work / short break / long break), and remaining time.
  • Your settings: Focus duration, short break, long break, daily goal (sessions per day), auto-start next session, and sound on/off.
  • Optional task name: If you type a task label in the extension (e.g. "Finish report"), we store up to 50 characters so it can appear in the session and in notifications. This is optional and only used locally.
  • Session history: For the last 50 completed focus sessions we store: optional task name, completion time, and duration. This powers the in-extension history and "sessions today" chart. History is only on this device.
  • Counts and streaks: Total sessions completed, sessions completed today, and your current streak (consecutive days with at least one completed session), so we can show stats and daily goal progress.

Why we use notifications

The extension can show desktop notifications when a focus session or break ends (e.g. "Pomodoro Complete!" or "Break Over!"). Notifications are created locally by the extension and may include your optional task name. We do not use notifications to track you or send data elsewhere.

Why we use alarms

Chrome's alarms API is used so the timer keeps counting down even when the popup is closed. Alarms run only on your device and do not send any data.

Data sharing and use

We do not sell or share your data with third parties. We do not use your data for anything other than running the timer and showing your history and stats. We do not use your data for advertising, creditworthiness, or lending.

When your data leaves your device

Your data does not leave your device. We have no servers; everything stays in Chrome's local storage on this computer.

Children's privacy

We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the extension after changes means you accept the updated policy.
